VEGETABLES CAN PREVENT CANCER, HEART DISEASES AND AGING.


Vegetables are most a times neglected in our diet, funny enough we fail to include them in our diets not because we can't afford them but because we don't often know their health importance.

After much research, i was able to understand the health benefit of consuming vegetables.
There are many types of vegetables out there which are grouped into Cruciferous, Red, Yellow, Orange vegetables and the Starchy vegetables just to mention a few of them. Each of this group perform a significant role in ensuring we are healthy.
                                       
 CARROT


They are many varieties out there, the main part that is commonly eaten is the root, although the leaves can be eaten as well. Carrots are know to have powerful minerals that help to fight lung cancer. Research has shown that eating at least one carrot a day can reduce your risk of lung cancer by half. It also have the ability to combat cancers such as that of the; throat, bladder, prostrate, cervix, and colon. Major elements contained in carrot include; beta carotene ( in large amount ), iron, magnesium, potassium, calcium, phosphorous, and vitamin C.

                       STARCHY VEGETABLES

Examples includes; legumes, tubers and roots. this particular group have elements that help to prevent ailments such as; diabetes, and heart diseases. They also help to improve digestion and block cancer.
Other tubers and roots include potatoes, which gives us energy with all its complex carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, fibre and muscle-building protein.

                            CRUCIFEROUS VEGETABLES 
They are generally the cabbage family. Studies shows that when consumed, they help in the prevention of aging. Like other vegetables, cruciferous also prevent Rectal and colon cancers.
The chemical Indoles and beta carotene as well as vitamin C work simultaneously in order to prevent  cancer, they also contain calcium, which fight's degenerative diseases and osteoporosis.

Osteoporosis :-a medical condition in which the bones become brittle and fragile from loss of tissue, typically as a result of hormonal changes, or deficiency of calcium or vitamin D.- oxford dictionary.

Example of cruciferous vegetables are; Brussels, sprouts, lettuce, cabbage and broccoli. Their mineral contents includes but not limited to;Vitamin A, B, and C, others are magnesium, potassium, calcium, phosphorous. Green vegetables are rich in Vitamin C, fibre and beta carotene.

We have learnt the health benefits of vegetables, its good we start including them in our diets in order to stay healthy and hearty, avoid foods that have little or no health benefits in consuming them.
